Fitzgerald National Park

We woke up around 6:30 due to the sun and the heat and people packing their camping gear nearby. Despite heavy wind it was the best sleep so far. I didn’t mind waking up and having a dip into the ocean but unfortunately the weather changed dramatically in 5 minutes and it became chilly and windy. So we left Quagi Beach around 8 am and headed towards Fitzgerald National Park.

Barrens Lookout, Fitzgerald National Park

We stopped at the Four Mile Beach and Barren lookout before starting our hike to the East Mount Barren Peak. The hike was easier than the Frenchman’s Peak but was still quite challenging with moving rocks and narrow paths surrounded by bushes. The view was amazing showing the full panorama of the ocean and the coast.

After the hike the best idea was to chill at the beach and this time we chose East Mylie Beach which to our surprise was empty and much prettier than the previous ones we stopped at in this park. We had the whole beach for ourselves!

As it was 25 degrees and windy, we didn’t dare to dip into the water, so we got the New Year’s card ready for our friends and family.

As we had to head towards Albany and find the camping spot, we didn’t have time to go to Sepulcralis Hill Lookout. But instead we stopped at the Cave point and had our lunch at the picnic area of the West Beach.

After 2,5 hours’ drive we reached Miller’s Point Reserve Campsite where we got the spot with the sunset and lots of flies around but at least no wind that evening.
