After coming back to civilization we decided to take ferry to Rottnest Island (which was priced 80$/ person) and meet the happiest animal in the world Quokka.
The island was first called Rotte Nest meaning Rats Nest as Quokkas were thought to be large rats. Upon the arrival we were worried if we are going to see any of them as they are stars of this island but after 5 minutes we saw few of them chilling outside the café. The island is so touristic; we haven't seen that many people since our arrival to Western Australia!
As we had just half a day in the island the best way to explore it was by cycling around. The views were stunning as most parts of the road were coastal.
Despite the strong wind it was fun and we were able to meet many quokkas on the way away from crowds. To take a selfie with them was quite challenging as it’s not allowed to touch and feed them so you need to kneel or lay down next to them to get a perfect shot but we succeeded.
By the way, there is also an information board how to take a perfect selfie with Quokkas!
Visit to Rottnest Island was enjoyable and fun. After coming back to mainland we explored Fremantle area and tried few beers at Little Creatures brewery.
