Sunday is the best day to travel outside of Sydney because you just need to pay $2.50 and you can go wherever you want all day long.
For today's trip we chose Royal National Park which takes 1 hour by train from Sydney CBD to get to Cronulla station and then half an hour by ferry to Bundeena. As it is mid-winter and it gets dark at 5:30pm, we had to leave early today to complete the walk of 12.7 km we've planned. The walk opens up magnificent views of the coast and rock-shelf on the way to Marley Beach. We passed through the Wedding Cake Rock which was closed due to instability however we didn't understand what it is famous for. After 2 hours walk during which we were taking a rest, making lots of photos and gazing at the ocean views, we reached the Big Marley Beach which took my breath away. 400 m in length crescent-shaped beach with yellow sand and dunes behind, ocean blue water and such powerful and huge waves which I haven't faced before. Waves were breaking and in the mist of water you could see plenty of rainbows! It was really amazing. The ocean seemed aggressive and I would never dare to swim in that beach although I read that it's possible to enjoy the swim there. However I could spend all day sitting on the rocks or in the beach with a view like this! I feel like I am supposed to be near the water all the time as this cheers me up and keeps me energized!
Good mood, friendly travel mates and wonderful views - thanks Australia for one more memorable day!
