Sand boarding, dolphin watching and much more in Port Stephens

Port Stephens has lots of tourist attractions to offer so we started the day early.

Firstly we decided to visit Stockton sand dunes stretching 32kms and being the longest moving sand dunes in the southern hemisphere. Unfortunately, the tour which includes visit to Tin City, unique collection of 11 self-built shacks in the middle of the sand dunes, and Pippets search was closed due to weather conditions and high tides but at least we could enjoy the sand boarding which was a fun experience with the stunning views of endless sand dunes and Birulli beach. A dip into the ocean afterwards was a perfect refreshment.

The next attraction was dolphin watching cruise. The boat wasn’t going to the open sea so we didn’t need to worry about getting sea-sick. When we reached the shallow waters wild dolphins were swimming around which put our smiles on even though they were not jumping or making any exciting movements.

On the way back the boat put the net down where we could take a slide and refresh ourselves in the water. It was lots of fun because it was difficult to slide and lots of people were getting stuck there. All in all, it was such a nice boat ride with beautiful dolphins and fun slide to the net.

The next must see point was Tomaree Head Summit. A short steep walk up which had a 360 degree view to Zenith beach and Fingal Head was a breathtaking reward.

The last attractions of the day was the sunset at the Sunset beach and crabs watching at Soldiers point for which we were not ready and didn’t have a proper torch. Despite this we were still able to see some groups of 10-15 crabs running through the sand and trying to dig themselves under the sand.

Tiredness and hungriness led us to Anna Bay Tavern which was closing soon but we were lucky to be the last clients. Food portions were extremely huge and instead of 1 Cereal Killer burger I had to make two because it seemed that the whole grilled chicken was put inside it. Food was delicious and a glass of beer finished the memorable day.
