The last day of the year in Albany

Good morning!

After leaving the campground we stopped to have a free shower on the way and continued toward the Castle Rock nearby Albany. The walk was moderate difficulty but steep all the way up. The last few meters were challenging as we had to walk through the rocks and then climb 7 m ladder. Even though you couldn’t see the whole Castle Rock, the view of the landscape was amazing. To our surprise, we got the reception there but not for the last 36 hours while driving for approximately 500 km!

Albany was just 30 minutes away. We did some grocery shopping, got some drinks for New Year’s Eve and headed to 1849 Backpackers Hostel. We had a private room there and facilities were really good.

As we haven’t had anything to eat, we headed for lunch/ dinner at around 5 pm. We were starving! Food at Six Degrees was amazing – even though I am not sure whether that was just a hunger or a really good food.

Some rest afterwards, camping chairs taken and we were ready for New Year’s fireworks!

WOW! We haven’t seen fireworks from so close before. It seemed like a private event during both 9 pm and midnight ones. It wasn’t as amazing as Sydney ones for sure, but they were just what we needed!

Quiet, unique and chill New Year’s Eve.
