In the morning the rain was still on and off making weather unpredictable and cold.
As we haven’t had much planned for the day and didn’t need to drive a lot, we went to the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and took the tour all the way up climbing 170 steps up, 35 m high. The lighthouse is situated in the most south-westerly point of the continent where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean. For this reason it was extremely windy and chilly.
Later on, we headed to Jewel Cave where we had a guided 1 hour walk going 42 m underground and doing 500 steps overall. It seemed to be like a stairs’ day.
Hamelin Bay is known for the sting rays swimming around which makes it a popular snorkeling spot. As it was pretty cold we saw just few people snorkeling and fortunately few of the rays came very close to the beach for us to observe them.
On the way to the campground we stopped at Boranup Maze which was really small but a bit tricky. It was good to stretch legs for 10 minutes.
We booked Conto Campground in advance and arrived there pretty early, around 4:30 pm. There was a beach nearby and I decided to walk there. The part of it was through the Cape to Cape track which is 135 km length hike. The beautiful view over the tree tops meeting the ocean made a nice touch to the evening walk until the kangaroo jumped 1 meter away from me in the bushes scarring the hell out of me. Despite that I reached the coast and panorama was magnificent so I decided to stay at the top and admire the view from there while writing the blog. I can’t imagine the better view for that. I could sit there all day long enjoying the view!
On the way back to the campground I met a kangaroo with a child which got scared and ran further away from me
Relaxing atmosphere and BBQ made a perfect touch to the end of one more great day.
