The Northern Exposure Whitsundays Tour – Ocean rafting operated by Ocean Rafting began at 8:45 am with 2 crazy tour guides on board. Just after leaving the marine, the driver started introducing us with crazy rafting experience after which one old lady felt sea sick and was returned back to the coast.
After 1 hour drive we reached the coast and headed to the Hill Inlet Lookout which is one of the most photographed points in Australia. After a short walk, lookout opened the view to Whitehaven beach. Due to ever changing tide levels the panorama changes every hour. White beaches and coral blue water were an amazing combination for the perfect day and memorable holidays.
Ocean Safari is the only agency which is licensed to bring clients to the untouched white sand beach which they called Champagne beach (not sure if that’s the official name) because of the bubbles coming up from under the sand. However, the swim in the clear pristine water was dangerous due to many stingrays in the shallow waters nearby the coast. While only 20 people were on the beach, I felt like being there just by myself. It somehow reminded me of tv series ‘Lost’.
After having lunch and chilling in the inhabited island, we headed to the snorkeling point for colourful fishes. 2 years ago before the huge storm destroyed majority of the coral reef, this point used to be one of the best spots for coral snorkeling. At the moment there are coral cages nearby to rejuvenate the reef.
The way to the second snorkeling point was extreme due to the waves and ‘washing machine’ adventure but it was fun and not as scary as it may sound. The second snorkeling point was mainly for the corals. I’ve never seen such huge and colourful corals and scuba diving wasn’t even required.
The overall experience was amazing and memorable with the best panorama of Australia so far.
